I created this poster to raise awareness about domestic violence directed at women in romantic relationships. I never expected the number to be as high as it is, which proves that there needs to be more information out there.

I made a point of drawing her hand limp, to show that she is not holding her partner’s back. She does not want to be here, but she is trapped and cannot escape, as many women in abusive relationships may feel.

The twist on the “Roses are red” poem was meant to represent how romance can easily turn to violence.
